Search is becoming a conversation

People can ask for an explanation, compare options and explore a recommendation within a single conversation. Google AI Overviews and search-enabled AI assistants give businesses another context in which their information may be discovered.

That does not make conventional SEO obsolete. The underlying pages still need to be useful and accessible. We treat AI-search understanding as part of a joined-up SEO programme.

Explain the business without ambiguity

Search systems need context: what your business does, the customers it serves, its service area and how its pages relate. “Entity understanding” is the technical label for recognising these things and their relationships.

In practice, that means consistent business information, clear service descriptions and an about page that states supported facts. We avoid vague claims that could apply to any business.

Write answers that stand on their own

A useful answer begins with the question and explains the subject directly. It should still make sense if read without the surrounding page. Descriptive headings, concise definitions and relevant comparisons help people as well as machines.

Answer-focused content needs substance. Adding dozens of superficial FAQs or repeating a phrase such as “AI recommended” does not establish expertise.

Support understanding with structure

  • Give each page a clear purpose.
  • Connect services to supporting guides through relevant links.
  • Keep important content in readable text.
  • Use appropriate schema to describe visible information.
  • Check relevant crawler access and indexing.
  • Support factual claims with trustworthy sources where needed.

Source selection is outside our control

An answer engine chooses sources according to its own systems and the question being asked. A clear page can provide useful material, but it cannot force a recommendation. No special “AI keywords” make that happen.

Google’s guidance confirms that established SEO practices remain relevant to its AI features. Our work focuses on the quality and clarity of the website, not a proprietary shortcut.

Part of the £249 monthly programme

AI-search optimisation sits alongside service-page work, content improvements and technical checks. We agree priorities around the website’s actual needs. Read SEO vs GEO for the terminology, or how to approach ChatGPT visibility.

Questions, answered.

What do GEO and AEO mean?

GEO means generative engine optimisation. AEO means answer engine optimisation. Both are labels for helping content work in answer-led search experiences; the practical work overlaps with good SEO.

Will you guarantee that ChatGPT recommends my business?

No. Recommendations and citations are selected by the system and depend on the question and context.

Do I need separate content for every AI platform?

Usually the best starting point is a strong, consistent website. We prioritise useful information and clear structure before considering platform-specific changes.
